Vortec Heads Casting #'s

I am going to update my stock GM crate 350 w/carb) and the local machine shop has a couple different set of Vortec heads that have been magnafluxed and rebuilt. People did not have money to pick up and they have been setting there over the 90 days and they want to get rid of them. I wanted to know which casting numbers I should be looking for and which ones I have be AVOIDING! It seems to me that I have read certain years are better than others. I think I can pick these up for 250-300. Thanks, Steve.

You want the 96-99 vortec heads from a 350, casting number 062 or 906. The 906 supposedly have special exhaust seats that hurt flow, which makes the 062 the more desirable of the two.

Watch out for vortec heads that came from a 305 (they have a different casting # than the two I posted).
