Fuel pump crapped out my 91 Jimmy. Currently, everything is still stock but I’m planning to do something in the future. Can I put vortec-era fuel pump and still run the stock TBI pressure regulator without issue? Or do I need a stiffer spring?

When I did this I had to watch the pressure closely

Specially, the ep 241 pushed my pressure up 1 psi
The ep381 pushed it up 2

I’ve found 12-15 to be a sweet spot for Tbi even stock. So if you have a reliable way to check and adjust the pressure, that’s best

Did you go with an adjustable regulator or a psi specific spring? Any recommendations on who to get either from?

From what I’ve seen, checking the pressure at the inlet to the TBI is the way to go, but not sure if there’s enough space back there to plumb a tee in without running braided hoses.

I built my own with a longer screw and a nut or two. Adjusted it with a 7/16” end wrench from the bottom. There is a fitting that takes a 1/8npt gauge that will thread into the pressure side

There are adjustable regulators that bolt up

Conversely you can also block off the regulator and put an external adjustable regulator on the return, with a gauge between the injector and regulator to set your pressure

Hope this helps
