this is going to be long so be prepared to read a lot but..

im a junior in hs, i get my license this may, and i live in nj where it doesn't snow too too much and the roads are always plowed really. i have my k10 and im keeping it but my dfad has been telling me to get a second car or truck since it will (in the first month of driving it everyday) "cost me 3k" when not one part costs for then 1000 lol. but thats not the point anyways i need help deciding and getting some other viewpoints since im stuck in a rut. also, i plan on applying to colleges in vermont (i love it, snowboarding, dh biking, MUD! etc) but really i wouldn't have to drive back home much, for distance aspect one school i was thinking of applying to is 5 1/2 hrs away.

vw gti, i speced it out and would cost about $28,000 and i would make payments on it. im thinking auto with the tiptronic but the manual is tempting, (i can drive stick but not great and think it would suck in traffic, snow, hills, long drives, multitasking, etc.) its good on gas, quick as hell, and would be fun to drive.

the f250 would be a v8 gas
if i were to getthis i would eventually buy a trailer to pull my k10...its 4wd, it has a lot of room and can be used to do a lot of things but its big beefy and wouldn't be too efficient. speced it at about $32,000 and again would pay it off. i could put the quad in the bed and go farrrrr distances unlike my truck could do.

thats not it, here are some activities i do which should narrow it down

snowboard (f250 has the 4wd but again nj not much snow but vt is different and idk how much i'll drive while at school)
quad/dirtbike the 250 wins this for far distances whlie i can take my truck if its a short distance.
downhill biking (50 lb bike very big) i can get a roofrack on the gti but that would suck, the 250 i could throw it in the back.

its hard to decide bc the 250 would be useful and last a long time and do many jobs but the thought of driving a big wide truck no matter what i decide to do may get old just from the size and gas factor. if i get it i'd def get the 4.10 with limited slip

the gti is sick, good on gas, can do most stuff i need but not all, fastt (and idk if i would go stick or auto with tiptronic)

ii need helppppppppppppp

Can't say for you but my second car is a '02 vw tdi. it gets 48 mpg and after a little tuning I have done, is quick as hell! With what gas prices are doing I would stay away from a v-8 gas truck but that is your choice. you have a truck to haul your bike so I would get a car that is cheap to fuel rather than another toy.

IMO.If you already have a running truck, get the car. Gas aint getting any cheaper 100 dollar plus fill ups to feed a daily driven gas sucking F250 willl get old in a hurry. I am sure you would rather spend money on snowboarding, than filling a forever empty tank.

As for manual or auto get what you want. The auto trans in GTIs can be shifted like a manual.
But for fun I like manual trans.
My Daughter has a Turbo Jetta with a manual trans. She likes it way better than auto.

First off if I were you I would avoid payments on any vehicle until you are out of college, trust me! If you have to get payments I would suggest a used vehicle as with a slightly used vehicle you will get the best bang for the buck. Also between the 2 I would go with the VW. The VW usually hold value better and are an overall a good vehicle.

Just my 0.02

Junior in HS? Your budget should be whatever you have in cash. LIke $1000, or $2000. Don't get in the payment routine now.

and dont do yourself by buying a new(er) ford with a gas engine, they're so underpowered that they get bad mileage no matter what
