For example what dummy lights and what guages?

the dummy lights are the red plastic pieces with the pics of a battery, radiator, oil, ect that light up if there is somthing wrong, the factory gauges actually show the temp, battery output, and oil pressure.the one i was thinking of putting in also has the clock.i do have the donor truck.

I believe all you will need are the doner gauges and sending units. If you pull the whole cluster it would make the swap easier. You may even need the printed circut too. If you get the cluster it should be a remove/replace affair.

Then yes you can do this, you just need to either pull the complete harness with the guages, or identify the part of the harness and take it with the indidvidual guages you want to take.

Doner truck with the gauge cluster, printed circuit on back , wiring and senders from the motor will make this a plug and play process. The pin out from various year clusters/harness is when things get more involved. Since you have the gauge cluster and harness it shouldn't be much trouble at all. The senders for the gauges can come from any truck with factory gauges

sounds good i did take out the gauges and the printed circut together and plugged it in,i didnt figure the gauges would work without the sensors out of the donor truck.but the thing is is that if i would turn on for instance the right turn signal, the left side turn signal would flash and so would the high beam indicator light.so would i be better off to draw a diagrahm of the stock wire locations in the plug that goes into the printed circut on the donor truck and move the wires from my truck into the same pattern and add the wires for the gauges or try to switch both harnesses, but that sounds like a lot of work and time

thanks everyone, reserected jimmy i think i will repin the plug and add the wires from the senders.i think there are 18 connectors on the printed circut,do you know if each sender will take a spot.i cant remember how many open spots i have but it should work.also you wouldnt happen to know what the green box is that plugs in behind the speedo is.i think it has to do with the auto tranny because i dont have 1 on my gauge cluster but i have a manual tranny, and the donor truck is an auto.thanks again

In my experience, there are can be quite a few open spots on the connector. The power and ground wires are the simple ones, as most are "shared", so you can trace them on the cluster. I used a permanent marker on the PCB to mark +, - and which lead was which gauge sender so I didn't forget.
