On a cold start up I started noticing a light chirping/clacking noise. Popped the hood and am fairly certain its my distributor. I don't have time to pull it to look for gear wear or anything.n I could put my stethescope on it to be more sure, but when I touch it I can feel the chirp/clack. I've wanted to upgrade my ignition to some MSD or Mallory for some time now anyways.
My K5 is a 1990, TBI. Electronic controlled distributor.
So what do you guys run for upgraded distributors, and what should I avoid?
(Note, I have an edlebrock performer intake. shouldnt make a difference in the distributor, but what do I know...)
