I can trade for my long tube headers too. They are hedmans but the pass side on needs a few dents pulled. I am going back to manifolds so I can try to run my pass side pipe around front of oil pan sump then to drivers side. Block huggers would prob work too but trying to keep under hood heat down with a 454 in a s10
I have 2 exhaust manifolds from a BBC, IIRC one has provisions for smog tubes and the other don't. One is an early 75ish and the other is a later 80ish if this helps any. I can get pics if needed and i can even bead blast and resurface them before shipping.
I only have a single left and a single right manifold. One is an early and one is a late. I just went and took a look and here's what i have.
The left side is probably a 1975 manifold without smog holes (came off a 75 454 anyways) this manifold dumps staright down directly under the rear exhaust port. The right manifold is from a 1989 (date code of 11- 1-88) and has smog holes (but are currently plugged) this manifold dumps at an angle rearward of the rear exhaust port.
from looking around I haven't found any application that the pass side manifold that goes straight down. Might be interested in those manifolds yet if the price is right.
i just bought these on ebay today for the exact same reason, I've seen my headers glowing orange when I've had to lay on the skinny pedal for any semi-long amount of time to make my 44's trudge thru 3'-4' of thick Mississippi blue gumbo & in turn cause the radiator to spew....and i have header wrap insulation on them....i think the thick header flange will be re tubed & recycled into a set of homemade ''tractor pull'' or ''zoomies'' style headers for the derby cars...screw headers on my mud runner!
they may need to be resurfaced but for $55 to my door i think i did good, b/c all the others i've seen on ebay are that much for 1 side..new 1's though...god forbid they be date coded early 70's, they think they are gold...$300 a set...geez!
4x4high what kinda price would it be to resurface manifolds..i ask so i know if a machine shop is try'n to bend me over? i have no automotive machine shops local, which is strange b/c there are dirt tracks & mud bogs all around me and I've built quite a few engines the last 3-4 yrs and the closest automotive machine shop is 1 3/4 hrs away...would a regular ''tool & die'' type machine shop be able to do this? there is at least 1/2 dozen of those local. i would think they could but would feel better w/your blessing.
i'm not try'n to kill your sale 4x4high, just wanted to say the only rh side manifold that i've seen that points down instead of angled back is this manifold & i've been looking at 454 cast manifolds for about 2 months. just like you said, its for a car. it says its oem for 66-74 'vette. 4x4highs left side is non smog(these are getting hard to find) and would be a good match to go w/this 1, you may could run your exhaust across the front like you said w/this manifold.
