Well, either some unknown soldier or the place that sold me my truck got carried away trying to get the grill off at some point and it's decently screwed up. Looking for a replacement if someone has one. Truck is a '86 Chevrolet 1 ton with the single headlights and parking lights on each side. Typical CUCV but if you have a similar era civilian grill I can flat black it all the same.

Who's got one?

I have an '86 K5...civilian (well, Police, but still... :D )

I bought a new, non-OEM '83-'84 grill on eBay for like $30-$40. I liked the looks of it better than the '86. It does NOT have provisions for a Bowtie, but I didn't care about that. I rattle-canned it flat black and popped it on. I also painted the single-headlight trim to match. I like it.

Here's how mine looks...

Oooh, nifty. Good looking truck there man.

I think I want to stick with my style because I plan on putting some offroad lights in the grill where the black out light and 24v jump plug are now. I will take a look on ebay.

All the CUCV's I see in pictures , including the green one in the top of this post ( <----- truth ), are 83-84 grilles .

Must of made so many with the holes pre cut that they carried over until they were run out .

Yeah...you know...you're right. Never noticed that before.

I looked at the grill earlier, and was just about to say... :doah::haha:

I don't realy even remember what my '86 grill looked like. But yeah, that's definitely the same style as mine.

Makes sense though. Half my wiring harness is whatever was current in '83.

A-The military approved this design in 1983 so any changes would have to be approved and the stock of spare parts would have to be either adjusted or added to so changes could be handled.

B-GM was famous for using up older parts in newer vehicles that technically shouldn't get them so I bet they thought, "hey, these CUCV's are all supposed to use these older parts so let's just use them all up."

I've got this one. $40 plus the ride and I'll include the headlight bezels?

If ajm doesn't pick up the grille and bezeles i'd like to be next in line. I also need the headlight buckets and all...updating my 79....

az and tv, I'll pass. Think I'm going to go with a new one. Thanks though.

NOICE!

YOU DA MAN!

Got any building supply places around you? If any of them build/assemble their own home entry doors they should have boxes for the lites (the windows in the doors) that could work. Used to work in one and I'm picturing a 8"x25"x64" box that would be perfect.

Make sure the box is extra deep and you have a good layer of packing peanuts on both top and bottom. Last grill I had shipped to me DID NOT survive the trip due to poor packaging.

Either that or the big air bubble wrap stuff. Not a fan of the peanuts as they can all sift to one side of the box.

Root, please get insurance on it and feel free to ask for more $ to make it happen.

Yep, should be.

Looks good to me. Better than the broke ass one I have.
