Wanted: Rad hold downs

Hello,

I have a 1/2 79 Chevy 4X4 and I yanked out the old skimpy 2 core rad, and have got a larger 4 core that I want to put back in. However, the clamps that bolt to the rad support (top) and arch over the rad to hold it in place are consequently incorrect. The old ones are intended to reach only 3 inches or something, and with the new larger rad are useless to me.

I've looked at chevyduty.com and lmctruck.com and they sell the parts I am looking for, but there sooo many options with different cooling setups and stuff that I have no idea which ones I need.

I also want to get the rubber radiator pads that go on the top and the bottom of the radiator under the hold-downs. Again, the same problem prevails, I need the ones that will fit a 4 core rad. This might seem like something widely available, but the wreckers pull the rads when the trucks come in - environmental concerns with antifreeze and such - and thus all trucks in the yard have NO rads, NO supports, and NO rubber pads... awesome...

Any input? Or does anyone know which ones in LMC truck are correct for my application?

The people at LMC Truck are USELESS for this problem and it isn't possible to get them to go physically grab one and measure it up for me because they are either A)Grossly Incompetent or B)only customer service staff with the warehouse located on another site (typical).

Any suggestions?

I may have the top plate you're looking for but not sure as no one else seemed to want or need one when I posted a garage sale thread, so I started tossing stuff in the trash. Will need to check for the plate tomorrow.

The 4 rubber pieces can be had in polyurethane from Prothane for fairly cheap. Just type in Prothane on an eBay search and look for them.

I have a couple of the 4 core radiator brackets for the tall radiators. Measure your radiator for hieght. If you have the taller radiator they will work. However they bolt down from the top of the core support instead of the back side like the typical 3 core.

If your core support doesn't have the nuts welded into the top set of mounting holes you can drill down thru from the top to transfer the holes then drill from the bottom up with a hole large enough for a socket to fit into the hole. Using flanged nuts you then can set them in the socket and thread them up from the bottom.
