I have a practically brand new Warn 8274 winch sitting here, I just ordered a Warn Classic bumper to mount it in for my 85 Chevy K10 with 1/2 ton axles sitting on 33x12.5" tires with 1-ton 3 leaf springs in front and stock 1/2 tons in the back, so its probably close to the average weight of your shortbed K10 with smallblock, 700r4, and NP208 and its got a 12 bolt in back instead of a 10 and dual fuel tanks.

My question is this: Is this winch enough for my truck? I know its a good winch but I want to know if i'm going to need a bigger winch, I don't think I will, but I have no experience with winches.

I traded my 87 suzuki samurai for the winch.

As long as you carry a snatch block you should be ok, but not to sure about the deep deep stuff! I do not personally have a winch, but a couple of buddies have em.

I have this exact winch on the front of my burb

It has never left me stuck and I've never had to use a snatch block YET.

I only have 33x12.5's sitting on stock rear springs and 3 leaf M1008 front springs, so its not real big and I don't go mudding, unless I have to.

That winch will pull two trucks like yours out of frame deep mud.

Yes, they are very good winches. And they will pull about as much as any if you use a snatch block. But, come on, lets not exagerate.

I have the 8274 mounted on a modified warn classic bumper on my :burb:. I have the big warn snatch block for extra pulling power. It is one of the best winches warn ever built. I will be putting the warn 12000 in the rear in a custom DPI bumper soon.

A buddy's 8274 with a snatch block was able to drag my Blazer out of a hole that had the front bumper completely buried.
