Well Ive got an old warn id like to slap on my 80 K10, Id like to keep the stock bumper. well most of it. Im tossing the idear of building a cradle for the winch, recessing winch into grill, than mounting the stock bumper ends to that? Should have a somewhat stock look when finished.

Im I crazy to think it will look good? Any help appreciated.

Had one stuffed pretty far back in my old 84 K5, cant see why it wouldnt work with a stock bumper?

Why not get a warn winch cradle. It fits right over the stock bumper. You only have to trim a little of the rubber out of the middle.

There was a winch cradle on the dallas craigslist yesterday for $30. I think it was a Warn. Not sure if it was compatible with an 8274 nor do I remember if it was for early or late square body.

If I could find one I would, tough luck around these parts IMO.

Maybe I'll put a wanted add up on kijiji.

I'm not looking to spend a lot of $$ on one, this is a low buck build.

This is going to look cool. I don't know if I would want my winch so close to the radiator though. Be sure to post some pics of whatever you come up with. My winch bumper sticks out past my grille about 18".

If you look at my k5, there is plenty of room. That was when I still had the ac condenser in there. Gained a couple inches with just removing that.

Hmmm. Yeah I didn't think of that. Not much need for an A/C in your neck of the woods. If you have a working setup that you'd like to donate... :deal:

I have a stock chrome bumper in the backyard that I'll trade you. :haha: I'll have to kick my dogs out from under it first though. They won't be happy.

Have you thought about maybe not cutting the bumper up and instead fabricate a mount between the framerails behind the bumper and then just cut a hole in the bumper with a torch for the fairlead to attach to? That could be done pretty cheap. Maybe.

There isn't enough room. Them 8274s is big, and being they mount feet forward makes it awkward.

Can't say i have any ac stuff laying around. It was all junk. Lol

Oh yeah I didn't think of that. Best winch around though.

If you do find some A/C components that need to head south... :haha:

If I come across a spare heater core or block heater, we can trade even. :haha:
