Can someone enlighten me about these winches? Are parts available? They look like an 8274. Are they worth $300?
Thanks

i bought a good working one for $125. haven't mounted it up to use it yet, though. so, 300 is high. does it still have all the drive cables?

I had one on as a trailer winch. works great as that. I believe they are 6k rating, warn eventually bought out belleview. most if not all parts are obtainable. My belleview actually had a ford? starter motor.

As stated, they are only power in with a mech brake. cable operated too, which is a real hassle.

it is not advisable to use a ford solenoid, however, because they're not rated for 100% duty cycle and should it weld the contacts shut, you'll have no way to stop the motor. thus, it is advisable to use a warn solenoid.

I paid 250 for mine but it had never been used since installed on the truck. It's 33 years old and looks like it's 3 years old. I can always change the motor out to power out so I'm not worried about it not being an 8274.
