I need a new bumper and I was looking at the Warn Classic (23162) bumper. It sells for around $300 plus $90 for the mounting hardware. I have found a few websites that sells them, but I was curious if someone had good or bad reviews about where they got their bumpers. Where was it the cheapest? I was looking at:

I've got one on my burb with a 8274 winch. Out of the box they are too weak. I had a friend weld some plate on top to reinforce it and now its a lot stronger. I have heard and seen these bumpers twist. The warn enforcer is a lot stronger but the ends are plastic crap.
 
Too bad! I am in San Jose California!! I liked the Classic bumper because it was $267. I know the enforcer is stronger, but I do not have the funds right now to spend an additional ~$180! It is probably the Classic $267, new OEM bumper for $150, or junkyard pull $45.
 
The Warn bumpers are weak. If you are going to run it on a street truck or light duty offroad truck then it might be ok. If you are going to try and so some pretty decent wheeling then you are probably going to tag the bumper on something and bend the outer pieces and you will also be limited by its massive size. I used to have one on my K5. I cut it down a little, then a little more, then a little more, then I raised the winch plate (all that was left) up to get a better approach angle, then I built myself a new bumper that was stronger, full width, and had a better approach angle.

$45 Junkyard bumper is looking pretty nice right about now. What is a little irritating is that my turn signals are mounted in the bumper. I think it was only like this for a couple of years, so finding a junkyard piece is very limited. I guess I would have to fab turn signals for any bumper I would get that was not from an 1981 or 1982.

I had a Warn Classic on my Bronco. Yes, they tweak big time. I was constantly adjusting it after wheeling because it would twist around. I went with a 4x4Iron front bumper (box style) but unfortunately they aren't making them anymore. It would be expensive, but I really like the look. If you don't care what it looks like, then there are others here that are cheaper. I'm sure a quick search on "bumpers" will yield a ton of threads. Here are some:

The bottom line is that you get what you pay for. If you want to go cheap, I bet somebody can fab you up something that might not be pretty but work.
 
I had a Classic on my '90 F250. Slid through a light and tagged a Toyota truck. Bent the drivers side, but my buddy straightened it out, cut it down to fit a early Bronco, and is still using it. I drilled an extra hole through the mounting plates and the frame of the truck, in the center of the bolt pattern, and put a bolt in so it couldn't move up and down - even after hitting the Toy, it was straight, just the drivers side wing bent in a little. I did not put the extra bolt in the replacement Classic after the accident and that one would move after I pulled someone out of a ditch or used it to push a vehicle.
