I removed my Warn manual locking hubs this weekend and I can't find any instructions on how to put them back together.

Most of the newer warn instructions don't look anything like my hubs.
Anyone have a link to some assembly instrcutions?

Did you disassemble the locking hubs, or just removed them from the wheel hub (i.e. the rotor)? Or did you take the rotors off too?

If you just removed the locking hubs, all you gotta is stick 'em in and do up the six little allen screws around the edge... did you take the locking hubs apart to grease 'em or something?

Took the entire axle apart and put 5.13 gears in the front. So the entire this was completely torn apart.

There's no real 'trick' to it. They only go back in one way. Slide the locking mechanism into the hub and onto the axle splines, it may take a bit of wiggling. Use 2 of the 6 cover/dial screws as a handle if you need to. Push it all the way in and then snap in the outer snap ring into the hub. Then, at the u-joint, push the axle out to the hub and install the snap ring on the outer stub shaft. Then you can put in the outer cover/dial assembly and install the 6 screws.

An exploded diagram is exactly what I was looking for the problem is mine looks like a combination of both those pictures. There are a bunch of clips besided the snap ring. I also have a what I think is a washer that is supposed to go between the two nuts that go up against the wheel bearing.

Ah yeah, see, that's the wheel hub I was talking about. You had the rotor off.

The washer is a lockwasher, and yep, it goes between the two. You put the first nut on, torque it down, then put on the lockwasher, then the other nut ... see http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285457 .

Sometimes there's a C-clip that goes on the end of the axle shaft... can't think of any other clips besides the giant snap ring, right off.

Specifically, the first nut to go on has a small pin sticking out of the side. Put that nut on with the pin out towards you. Do you know how to set the wheel bearing preload?

Once that first nut is on and bearing preload set, then you put on the flat washer with all the little holes in it. Make sure the pin in the first nut lands in one of the holes in the washer and it sits FLAT against the nut. You may need to back off the nut just a tiny bit to line up the pin and hole.

Then you can put the outer nut on and torque it down.

After that you can commence assembling the hub.

Cool thanks although I dont remember a pin sticking out :eek1: I'll have to tear it apart and look again.

Its real easy to miss the pin. Plus its not uncommon for it to get broken off if the PO did not put it on right.
But it is absolutely necessary. If you put the nut on with the pin facing in, or use that nut for the outside nut, it will either back off or tighten up until it destroys the bearings depending on which side its on.

Once you see how it works, its obvious. The washer in between has slots that the pin fits into one of, and has a key that fits the groove in the spindle.
So the washer cannot turn, and neither can the inside nut with the pin in the washer.
