It isn't hard but it is a little harder then unbolt bolt.
You can remove the caps from your old hubs by removing the 6 bolts on the hub. The cap comes off. Then you need to take off 2 snaprings to get the hub body out. One is right on the end of the axleshaft. A set of snapring pliers makes that a breeze. You can use a screwdriver to seperate it too I imagine.
The second snapring is hard to see. It is a large ring that snaps into a groove in the bearing hub walls. You may have to look and feel for it a little and then find the ends. You can use small screwdrivers to get it out but a dental style pick works wonders on this.
Once both snaprings are out the inner hub body should come out. You can screw a bolt from the hub into a hole to pull it out with.
If you are replacing auto hubs there will be another snapring behind the hub body you will have to remove. It is on the axleshaft like the first small one.
Will my snap ring pliers fit down inside to get the second ring out? seem realy simple! Thanks for the insite! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Mine did with no problems. It is not that far down the bore only like 3" or so. That is only on trucks that have auto hubs on them too. It won't be there with manual locking hubs.
bret... you didnt tell me you actually wanted directions.... heck bring that bad boy up here and Ill put them on for you... /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

are you looking for the large snap ring? if so it may be covered in grease, it looks like a large wire ring and is located on the outer hub and it located in a notch. I use a dental pick to find the end.
Removing the warns from my just aquired axles to install in my existing. Just found the snap-wire and finally got one out. Are stock ones this fun or do they have a real snap-ring? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif
its been so long since Ive seen stock hubs I dont remember. The wire snap ring is simple once you know what to look for though! Glad you got it out /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Do yourself a favor and buy a set of picks. The make getting the large wire snapring out easy. It takes me longer to the the small snapring out then the large one with the pick. You just hook the ring and pull with the pick. Makes life nice.
