Hey...I was thinking of buying this winch. It's a new Warn xd8000i includes everything. Never opened still in box, roller fairlead and all, $550 firm, will ship for $75. It's for sale in the parts section...is this big enough? I was thinking might not be? I'd love to get a 12,000lb one but I can't afford that! Is this a good price too? I know I see them for about $710 or so with free shipping on sites so I think it is....thanks!!

the xd9000i is a 9000lb winch the hs9500i is a 9500lb winch and the hs stands 4 high speed so the hs9500i is faster. when you see 9000i and 9000 the i just means 125ft of cable the standerd is 100ft of cable

Ok, That makes sense. I could see wanting the 9500 lb. And the 125 cable. But I don't think I really need the high speed. Other then It realing up faster not a big deal...........Dan

sometimes id like it by hell my 8,000 does fine i was doing some major thinking on it i guess it was twice i powerd it out once i pulled a ext cab dodga (sp) 24 valve up about 10% grade in 4 feet of snow powered it out doing that and then i powerd it out the other night when i ad the blazer vertical and had to go streight up about a foot in 4 1/2 feet of snow but like i said i think with dual batterys and high out put alt. id be fine

I dunno, I havent personally seen anything 8000 or highter for less than like 600-700 on ebay. I'd love to get a winch too, but that means a new bumper as well.. well, here's the other thing. Do you really need 8000 lbs of dead pull power? I mean a pull block will effectively double your pull power to 16000 lbs.

Well, anyways, if you see a winch cheap, I'll take it. :)

As long as you have enough line to make a double line pull its fine. Even with 125' of cable if you are more than 50 or 60 feet from the truck you might need a single line pull, and depending on how stuck you are an 8000 might not do the job.
I've always heard you should have a winch rated at twice the loaded weight of your truck, so anything in the 9000 lbs and up catagory.

I would grab a smaller than ideal winch if the price was right though...
