Its dead simple. Warn had a "better idea" with the five pin remote. Instead of letting the solenoids get their ground from their cases, the remote supplies it.
I can see where that might look safer because two different wires or switch contacts would have to short out for the winch to come on at the wrong time.
Most runaway winches I have seen were due to welded solenoid contacts which this would not help much.
And since these winches use dual solenoids for each direction, even that does not occur all that often.
Basically, that jumper you see on the switch schematic means that which ever way you push the switch, the red ground wire is hooked to the brown wire.
The white wire is hot, and is hooked to either the green wire or the black wire depending on which way you want it to go.
I'm not sure that the pinout on the other link is correct. If you can get to the back side of the socket on the winch, and the wire colors are the same, that should tell you what you need to know.
Just tie the red wire to the brown, and hook the white to either the green or black.
