I want ot wash my aluminum bell housing and steel transmission to tcase adapter in the dishwasher. Is the anything I need to worry about? "No need to worry about the wife, she wont mind.

Nothing get's those bellhousings clean. I've let 'em soak in parts washer for months, scrub, sandblasted, still has crap caked on it.

Have at it, let us know how it works! :rotfl:

My roomate in college put his diff cover in the oven on clean mode once, took months to get that burnt gear oil stink out of the house.

Just wash it with varsol and sandblast the crap off it.

Take it to the carwash, just the same as a dishwasher but much easier to deal with the aftermath.

Could be toxic if you ever plan to run regular dishwear through the washer again.

I wouldnt do it.

I bet it wouldnt cost more than $20 to take it to a shop and have them run it through their parts washer.

"Mommy, why does everything taste funny?" :rotfl:

Guess I will get my wife to clean them then. She already cleaned my np205 &np203 range box and rebuilt them with my supervision.

Oven cleaner works VERY WELL on aluminum, you just can't leave it on too long. Have done it for years and it has never eaten my parts.

OK, guess that was my problem. Left it on over night on some np205 bearing retainers and it pitted the sh!t out of them.

Easy off oven cleaner on aluminum parts leave on for about 5 minutes then rinse off. Repeat as neccasary.

I've done stuff like that. i had a specifically designated dishwasher for it tho. it worked pretty well.

Couldn't a shop just bead blast it for super cheap? I take intakes in all the time and its never that much. they come out clean and shiny.

If you must use a dishwasher, get a junker. Unless you like being single. I can only think of 2-3 other things that would piss my wife off more. Besides having to wash dishes by hand would ruin your manicure.
