Im back. I left ck5 6 years ago. I sold my Jimmy and bought a Silverado. The Silverado is now gone and I am looking at buying a Jimmy again. i found one in Washington. It needs a head gasket replaced. Does anyone know abou how much cost is involved in this? I am going to have my dad pick it up for me and have it fixed then ship it to Alaska.

Welcome back. Its hard to say but if its only one head figure 350 plus parts. But just a guess, your going to get it tested at the machine shop to check for cracks and whatnot so that'll add to the bill. So a swag is 500 bucks for a start and up from there.

Not sure on labor rate up there but my best guess is closer to $750.00 for 1 head and closer to $1000.00 to pull both. Why not just fix it yourself once it gets home?

I have never worked on the heads. AS some of you may remember I had a hard time with the carb on my last k5. haha I doubt anyone remembers that far back. How difficult would it be for someone with basic tools and no knowledge of doing that kind of repair be?

If you can at least turn a wrench and read a book you can do the job. If you get into a situation where you need help because you don't understand something then this is where you come for the answer. Save your money for something else rather than someones labor.
