how can i find out wat gears i have in my 88 k5?

remove the diff covers and start counting

Remove your drive shaft. Put your axle on jack stands (still on the vehicle or off, doesn't matter). Turn the tire 2 full revolutions and count how many times the yoke (where the driveshaft meets the housing) turns. This will give you an approximation. Say your yoke turns just over 3 times... you have 3.08's. 3 adn 3/4... 3.73's, etc...

the RPO code is GU6 which means i have 3.42s im happy now that they arent 3.08s the worst gear ever
