Need some ideas on a water leak I have in the cab. Water is dripping at a pretty good rate by the hood release cable…far left lower side of dash. I got under there last night while it was raining … the water is coming in a tight crevice from lower left side of dash.
Some notes -
I don’t have the air vent on the driver side.

I took the cowl off behind the hood… all was clean. The seam sealer looks ok. But I am going to run a new bead of sealer.

Windshield is tight, new seal… ( also leaked before the windshield was replaced a few years ago) There is a ½ gap at the bottom of the windshield seal where the 2 sides meet up. I am going to fill in this little gap with sealer.

Any other ideas?

Its not the door seals? Mine leaks but not too worried as i bedlined the floor. Guessing thats the reason for the rot on these by the doors and corners.

door seals are all good... and new. I watched them inside the truck while it was pouring rain outside.

pull the wiper arm's .

pop the hood .

remove 7mm bolts holding wiper cowl panel in place and pop out.

remove plastic mesh cover also.

check for DRYED out cracked or mia seam sealer.

the area were the firewall peices all weld/butt up is seam sealed.

over 20 years since last made for newest truck/blazer/burban this stuff dryes out and goes bad.

had one doing it to me. found leaf's and junk built up in there from years of strage under/around tree's before i got it. then rain/snow got in there froze and poped it out.

i cleaned/ resealed with seam sealer and no more leaks.

and also there should be a gasket or diflector plastic ring around booster threw fire wall hole also to help seal that area. and seam sealer on the hd sandwich plate for the brake booster/pedel assembly bolt to on the firewall.

and if winshield rubber wasnt sealed correctly to frame/body hole it can get past there sometimes.
