In my shop. Doing stuff.
Although I am pretty sure I know the answer.

Eileen's Corvette temp runs right at 195. No big deal. Factory thermostat is 192. But just because I don't always trust gauges, and when I was running the time attack at a car show today, it would run at 205, I pulled the thermal gun out and started checking.

The top of the thermostat housing 145.
Below the thermostat 190
At the temp sender 201
Top of the radiator at the hose 115
Bottom hose 195

Water pump is spinning the wrong way.

Or t stat not working correctly

I have a brand new GM clockwise pump though

Yeah, sounds like wrong rotation pump. The lower hose should be cooler than the top hose.

just remember they all look the same from the outside when you go to order one. That crap got us when we were chasing Neds overheating issues

Is there pressure or suction on the heater hose coming off the manifold? If pressure the wp is correct.

If the T stat is stuck closed, over heating is the issue. If stuck open, the top hose should still be hotter than the lower.

Yep. I have never dealt with a wrong rotation. Always checked what was needed and ordered correctly. This one was on the engine from the PO.

If wrong rotation, it will most likely overheat if you clamp off the heater hose.

I believe the v-belts had standard rotation. Serpentine had reverse rotation. At least that's what my 89 k5 took which had serpentine
