Just replaced the water pump in the k5 and the replacement AC Delco was a dead ringer except it had what appears to be weep hole in the top as well as the bottom. Probably 1/8 or so, not tapped. Is the that what it is?

That is a weep hole, wouldn't worry about it. If you see evidence of a little coolant on the lower weep hole after a couple runs don't sweat it, they sometime leak just enough to leave a little marking when new, and will stop.

Seemed to be a good place for dirt to get into to me. And bigger than a weep hole needs to be. thanks for confirming. I was tempted to find a little rubber plug or something but assumed they would have put one there if it needed it.
