water wheeling questions

well yea all electrical connections will be run up into the cab or on the fire wall in a electrical box ( kinda like ryokens just not as fancy haha) i have all my axle vent tubes allready run up pretty high about to the top of the hood, i like the diaper idea for the distributor but idk i usually dont go to fast in water just like first gear slow, everywhere i wheel has a rock base usually so not alot of wheel spin in the water cuz of mud or anything so i dont throw alot of water up into stuff, and i run electric fans so i can just turn them off in the water. do you guys think it will handle very way in the water with this setup.

pertaining to dizzy's.....

plenty of marine dizzy's have gasketed caps that wont allow water in... but the bodies will be vented... in a marine dizzy the coast guard requires this vent to have a flame arrestor screen... I've often thought the best way to waterproof one for my rig would be just pull out the flame arrestor screen, NPT tap the remaining vent hole in the body, install a 90 fitting with a vent hose and check valve... similar to what Kert mentioned...

im going to run a sm465 and np205 so i dont think water will effect them to bad if i put new seals in them and keep the fluid changed.

i got the sm465/205 combo and spent half a day about 5 months ago playing in this river and have never have had any problems. i had routed the vent tubes as high as i could though a week before.

I kinda figured you'd chime in Paul, thats a great idea....are those caps readily available at, say a NAPA store?

usually it depends on what dizzy it is... the older Mallory and Prestolite stuff are gasketed.... some, but not all of the Delco's are....

any dizzy can be made sealed with a bead of rtv under the lip of the cap tho... the big thing is where the vent in the body is and whether it's in a spot that could be tapped... most are doable... GM, MSD, marine, etc....

Time to find the Alaskan contingent on this board. Those guys ford some way deep stuff
