Just curious what is the best DIY wax to make these old trucks shine? I have been using a old tshirt/micro fiber cloth and some Meguiar wax and having halfway decent results. Every once in a while ill see some original paint that people shine up and it really impresses me but I do not know the best way to deal with this old 1 stage paint. I think my bed has been repainted at some point etc so looking to get it just a little better.

I have used an old 6" orbital waxer with minimal results.

Doesnt look half bad when hand waxed.

Any tips for the land yacht?

Back in the day,Meguire's #7 polish was "the" one to use on gloss black.most guys used a buffer with it....then follow up with wax..

If the paint was dull and oxidized ,most body shops would buff black with 3M Super Duty rubbing compound first, but go easy, because it'll cut fast and deep with a buffer..

I've been out of the relm as far as selling or knowing about which body supplies work the best, since 1990,so I'm sure there may be better options out there today..

You’ll probably need to get rid of the oxidation and fine scratches first. I’d used 3M Finesse-it rubbing compound with a foam pad on a random orbital followed by carnauba wax.

I start with a good hand wash. Then clay bar, followed by cleaner wax, tech wax 2, and then spray wax. Seems to work well

I just bought some Lucas wax from the oil makers Lucas. I was surprised but it really does a great job for a quick spray and wipe. As for old oxidized paint you have to get down to a good layer of paint to start with. Possibly start with a good rubbing compound first and then a good hand wax so you can go slow and hit all the spots good.

You'd be surprised how much a clay bar will do. After that then do your buffing, polishing and waxing. Keep in mind, even the best waxes only last about 2 months.
