Way off topic, but need help

In my search for a daily driver, I found an 89 Grand Am dirt cheap. All seems well, except the shift cable is broken. I've never had to deal with that before. Any ideas on how difficult a job this would be? Any help please? Thanks.

shouldn't be too hard to replace

make sure it drives good first though, start the car, foot on brake pedal, have someone reach under the hood and shift the trans inrto gear with the lever on the trans
