Way to keep my truck legal with no doors?

Jeeps don't have solid doors, neither do HMMWVs, and nobody really cares.

They both also have mirrors that are attatched to the body and a lip on the floor board.

I had a 2001 wrangler w/ hardtop and solid doors, and the mirrors were attached to the doors, which were in my garage. I think the law around here is 1 mirror wether it be driver, passenger, or windsheild mount rearveiw. No authority ever said anything to me, and I made trips to memphis (90 miles) and all through arkansas

this topic has come up several times in the past, usually the warmer the weather, the more it comes up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

every state usually has different laws on such stuff, i KNOW in texas that you can run a blazer without doors because i did it on a 72 i had year round in the fort worth metroplex, as for mirrors, when i did state inspections it just stated that you had to have one rearward facing mirror, like the windshield mirror /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

i drove it without doors and the one mirror and never got a second glance from a cop, i would suggest you look up the laws and get the answers yourself for your state, and don't ask the cops since they will more than likely tell you that it is not legal without really knowing /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

just my thoughts /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

Most laws require a driverside mirror only, rearview is not required due to box vans and such. Passenger mirrors were an option on a lot of mini trucks. I got pulled over with no doors las winter. The cop said nothing about the doors except that if I had them on I wouldn't shiver and be swerving all over the road. He thought I was drunk, I was just really cold. We settled it quickly after he was outside his car for a few minutes and got cold too. (no ticket) Robzila gets pulled over regularly and I don't believe he has a ticket yet. That is AZ though we don't really care a lot.

It sounds like most people agree with having a lip. It sure would suck for that beer can to fall out in front of a cop. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gifCould bring you one of these /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Sorry for my mis-info about the mirrors on jeeps. The one we had had the mirrors mounted on the windshield frame. I never paid much attention to other jeeps to notice that they are mounted on the door. Sorry. But mirrors on HMMWV's are on the body.
