weather strip hell

I got new weather strips for the rear cargo doors on my Suburban. The old ones were mashed flat and did nothing to seal the door. Now with the new ones on the doors don't close all the way. I tried adjusting them (The hinges and the latches) but the passenger side door still hits the driver side door at the top. WTF am I doing wrong? Is there some adjustment that I am missing? Do the seals need to flaten out some? I am lost............

Its hard to believe that no one has had this problem before.

If you're adjusting hinges and latches you're missing something. Like the top hinge.
