Hub seal leaking from the mating surface of the hub and the seal on my 14b. Started as a class III leak, replaced the seal and checked for deformation on the hub, there wasnt any that i could see or feel. So the seal got replaced and now its still leaking. not as bad as the first one but still a class II. Wouldnt really care but for the rear disc swap i finally finished and not wanting the pads to soak in 90w. Anybody got a trick or something im not in the know about??

Thanks
Matt

speedi-sleeve, basically its a really thin seal surface you slide on over the old one.

I looked at that but wouldnt it be more of a fix for a spindle-side leak? Mine seals fine at the spindle, no leaks or anything, between the seal and the hub is where the leak is. Im wondering if i just need to get a new hub rather than have to dork around with sleeveing it.

so its leaking where the metal of the seal meets the hub?

If that is the case then I would just add some RTV to it when I installed it. See where that gets you may not be a fix but its a pretty good bandaid

I have in the past when installing seals, filled that gap with ultra black sealant. Just a little bit on my finger and try to press it in between the seal and hub. Then wipe clean afterwards. Its worth a shot.

I done it on some pinion seals and tail-shaft seals that had that problem, it helped most of the time.

I'm not sure I'm "seeing" exactly where this is leaking but if your using RTV, try "The Right Stuff"...it's the most wicked sealant I've ever used lol. I get it at NAPA and its mega expensive but you can use it in place of alot of gaskets. I used it for intakes, tranny to t-case, diff covers, timing cover, oilpans and a few other things and have had zero leaks. It is a motherf**ker to get the parts off though once you use it lol

X2 - "The Right Stuff" is some wicked awesome sealant!!!

Sweet bandaid approach here i come, sounds like Ill be giving "the right stuff" a shot, but yeah its leaking between the metal of the seal and the metal of the hub.

thanks guys

I wouldn't say it's so much of a bandaid fix, I always put RTV on the outside of seals and I've never had one leak there.
