Thumper
1/2 ton status
Hey, I swung by the local do it yourself weigh scale the other day. I kinda got a suprise. Steves signature says "5000 lbs of rolling American steel"... well, mine needs a diet than!
The scale said 2820 kg. Now there is 2.2 lbs per kg, so that would make Thumper a whopping 6217 lbs! That was with the hardtop on, winch and bumper, rear bumper with the spare and jackall as well as a full jerry can of gas and one full of water. I also had 3/4 tank of fuel but NO wheeling gear. I figure probably around 200 lbs worth of tools, spares (bearings, u joints etc), quick fix stuff (JB weld, RTV, etc), my can of fluids (2 quarts motor oil, 2 jugs of gear oil, ps fluid, brake fluid, grease, carb cleaner, wd40 etc.), 75 ' coil of winch cable, and a 50' tow rope.
By the way, that initial weight was including one Tim Horton coffee and donut eatin' driver, and 3 younguns that amount to maybe 80 lbs between them!
Just thought maybe some were curious!
