I was heading to the trails on Sunday and about 20 minutes on the highway the motor starting bogging down and I lost a significant amount of power. Foot to the floor in 2 gear and it was barely going about 30mph. After 5 minutes full power came back and she took off again. Drove fine for 30 minutes then did the same thing. Full power came back after 5 minutes or so. Wound up still wheelin all day and managed to drove back with no issues. Any thoughts? Only thing I found online that I thought it might be is the egr valve but not sure. No cel or anything. 88 k5 350 Tbi sm465 only eng mods are dual exhaust and salad bowl. Everything else is stock. Truck has been running great forest 6 months until now.

When was the last fuel filter change? Sounds like a fuel restriction to me...

yea my first thought too fuel filter, are you running a q-jet with their tiny little filter? whatever your running you need a good inline first. :waytogo:

Maybe a year or so again I put a new filter on. Probably only a thousand mileage on it. Fuel pressure was steady at 12 psi. I have the gauge in the engine bay so I could get a reading while driving. Maybe for the 10 bucks ill put a new filter in anyway

Not to sure what your referencing with the q jet

quad jet carb. Are you running a q-jet? Great carb but the stock little bronze (or paper crap) filter can clog up with one dirty tank of fuel (can we say mobil gas) it needs a healthy inline filter. :woot:

I'm sure others will chime in with better info but isn't 12 psi too high? you haven't said what you have there yet so just saying. :thumb:

hmm, no carb, and up to about 12-15 psi should be fine.

not sure how I caught that,,,oh wait, I read the WHOLE post.. :tongue1: :D

I did replace the fuel filter again cause i had one in the garage.did the same thing again. This time i made it about 5o miles on the highway and as soon as i exited it started bogging then resuming normal operation again. Did that for 15the minutes then i made it the whole way back home with no issues. Do u think it would most likely be a sensor issue. Im not throwing any codes

Mine did just like that one time and it was the ignition module under the distributor cap, but it didn't come and go like yours is doing. It just went. Anyway don't overlook the ignition. Check your plugs for fouling and maybe replace them and your wires and look under the cap for corrosion. Seems like if it was a fuel problem then it would be sputtering or something. Perhaps...

But a sensor is more likely with an EFI truck like yours.

I had a similar problem that ended up being a throttle position sensor. I got it wet in about 4' of water. Check your codes if you havent already.

Can you check for codes without the light beong on at that time u plug the meter in?
