So I was messin around with my 62 gmc the other night and i discovered that it actually has a hydro clutch. The slave cylinder is on the right side of the sm420?? i've never seen a setup like this before, is this an oddball truck or did they equip 1/2 ton trucks with hydro clutches in 62? I'm 100% positive that this is stock from the factory as the orginal owner doesnt speak english and is half blind from being past 90 something. Ill post pictures soon. I was told that way back in the day they did use hydro clutches but on industrial type trucks and not on 1/2 tons? Am i wrong or ?

I am 99% sure it was retrofitted, a picture of the setup will confirm my suspicions

Stock. 62 was the last year they did that. maybe 63, been awhile sine I looked at one. But 2wd will have torsion bars, but 4wd still uses leaves...

hmmm.....i never knew GM started that mistake that far back.....you would of thought they would of learned the first time......

Well I dont think I would call it a mistake, of the several old chevys I have seen with the hydro clutch they still worked 40 some odd years later. Unless your talking about the torsion bar suspention. witch in a 2wd is actually kinda cool cuz its easy to lower it down a bit for some hot rod rake.
