weird noise????

so i was out in the mud over the weekend when i kinda ramped my blazer and when i landed it snapped the rear u joint. i was bout 20 miles from home but i went ahead and locked it in and drove it home in 4wd. once i fixed the u joint and filled the trans case back up it was ready to rock but now when im stopped in gear it sounds like i have an exhaust leak but when i put it in park it stops. so i climbed under it and had someone put it in gear and it sounds like it is coming from under the dust cover for the flexplate. it is a 305 c.i. with a 700r4 and a 208 trans case. oh yeah and it seems like i have to give it more gas now to make it go but other than that its running and driving great. what ya thinkin??

Just a guess, you may have cracked the flexplate.
Try pulling the cover and see whats what.

Yeah, but now that I think about it, why would it change in park? Less load?

+3 cracked flexplate.

Ive had that twice now.

First one it would do it in drive or park, but in reverse it would stop.

most recent it will do it when the truck is warmed up only at idle in drive. nuetral or park wont do it.

It is just the varying pressure/load on it.

While pulling the inspection cover to check the flexplate, check the trans to engine block bolts. Make sure they are all there and tight.
