My '84 K5 Delay wipers have a mind of their own. They start when I run the glo plugs, or when I start the engine. Sometimes the delay works, and sometimes it won't stop until I wiggle the turn signal knob.

Is this a common prob? wiper motor or switch issue?

It's most likely the delay module, it's a seperate part.
It's like it has a mind of it's own right?

Mine wouldn't turn off, sometimes they would stop but most times they would stay on. Mine was the park switch, pulled it off and cleaned the contacts, then had to bend the contacts slightly so they would make contact with the cam that spins around and opens and closes them on the wiper motor. You can unplug the delay module under the steering column and plug the wires together this will just give you the low medium and high settings but should show if the delay module is bad.

If the delay module is bad, plugging the wires together will disable delay and just give you low med high. if they continue to run constantly without the delay module, i'd bet its the park switch.

Did you video working on the wipers? Haven'twatch your latest vid, gotta find some spare time, may watch it in segments.

I just posted a 52 minute vid... you may find it a bit long... If I vid it, they will WATCH!!! I wanted to ad some original soundtrack, but no time... Shame, the still pix are boring... IMO...

Everytime I start the K5, manually running the glo plugs, the wipers start their dance... Really erratic... I could vid it!!!

I saw them in one of your vids, I watch them all, just gotta find time to sit for 52 min to watch the latest.

So thats what this thing is? I knew there was a reason i read random crap on here everyday....

Bummer. I took advantage of the lifetime warranty on my Kragen wiper motor, and replaced it a the first sign of slowing down this season. Glad i did, the new one is a lot faster!

Thinking of making it a yearly change at the beginning of the rainy season....no reason not to.

So is there a serviceable item in the motor? The park switch, or something? It's easy enuff to change the motor, maybe I'll just do that. It's annoying that they dance at their own will...

From what i've heard on here, there is some sort of serviceable park switch, but you'll have to search for more info.

I never had issues with mine other than it was really slow, hence replacement. It was like $62+15 core IIRC. And gotta love lifetime warranty parts from kragen. If its not mission critical, i'd rather replace it when I see fit for free, than pay more money for a better brand name part.

The park switch is easy, look at the wiper motor and you will see a plug coming out of the front of it, unplug it then theres a cover that will slip off. On that park switch plug theres a clip you can push in and the park switch will come off. Clean the contacts and you may have to bend them a little so they may contact with the cam that spins around.
