My truck is a wheeler but is my only truck so it see's the road every couple of weeks for truck stuff. I'm looking at getting a set of weld on bead locks. I'm running 15 / 8"wagon wheels with 38 /12.5 bias TSL's. I'm going to get a fabricator buddy to weld them on because I don't feel comfortable welding on my rims. I just want to make sure this is a good idea. Other than being illigal here are there any cons to running them? Any bad experiences with them?

Thanks.

It can be difficult to get the tire centered on the rim. If you get a fat outer ring it is harder to air up and down, its hard to get your rim clean. Other than that they are great.

Yea. I was thinking about centering it. Are there any tricks to it. I've already got enough vibrations with the TSL's. Here's a pic of one that the guy is selling. He's a local guy making them and has sold lots. From what I can tell every one that has bought them is happy.

hmmm nice... my only concern for me... if I was to buy them...

will they pass inspection... you are modifying a dot legal rim which makes it non legal anymore.....

hopefully that isnt an issue for you...:wink1:

The ones I bought from great lake offroad had a centering ring. I have a set of 38.5x14.50 SX's on them are nice and cented.

Thay are illigal here. Yes it is a bit of a concern. We don't have mandatory inspections for private vehicles but the police can give you an order to get your vhicle inspected at an inspection facility which is a repair shop that is liscenced to do these provincial inspections. The mechanics also need to have their inspection certificate. I'm only woried about the bead locks bringing attention to the truck. I have accesss to other wheels at any time but my ground calipers and knuckles are a little more to deal with. My high steer and welded up frame are also a concern. It's not unusual for a police officer to give someone an order for inspection just because they have a lift and big tires so I don't really know if the bead locks would call any extra attention to my truck. The funny thing is I'm a liscenced inspector:eek: . We are not allowed to inspect our own vehicles. I work for a fleet that is only liscenced to inspect vehicles in the fleet. So I can't inspect my own. Any way, yes I'm a bit worried but I'll paint them satin black to match my rims and paint the bolt heads. I really doubt any police officers would know what they are.

Unless people know what they are looking at then they will think they are hubcaps. I had no problems centering mine on the wheels. They are a little pain to get on the rim as no tire shop will mount anything over a 35" tire. I ran mine on the HWY to the trails quite a few times with no problems.

People who noticed the wheels their common respone was "Nice Hub Caps"........
