Weldable primer?

Anybody think this is a good idea? I was going to paint the inside of the box with chassis saver to hopefully get any rust the sandblaster and ospho missed but the weld surfaces I was thinking of using weldable primer. If it's gonna mess up my welds, I'd rather skip it

I used to work at LKQ/Keystone, and we had plenty of body shops use it. Especially for patch panels like this scenario.

Did you neutralize the metal already?
as long as you use a light coat of weld through you should be okay. The heavier the coat, the more it affects the welds.
experiment a little on some similar scrap.

Thanks guys, I ospho'd it yesterday and planning on paint/primer today. I think I'll try a light coat of the primer on the weld surfaces like yall said

as Dave said, don't go too heavy.. i will often prime/paint EVERYTHING except the weld areas, than go in with a piss coat of weld-thru on those... as opposed to relying on the weld-thru for all your corrosion protection thruout...

Yeah there are four drains. You can see one next to the grinder. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm gonna research that

@ryoken was the first person I heard about it from in a post he made some time ago. Then just the other day I was watching Graveyard Cars and Mark Worman talked about using a 3M cavity wax on all their restorations.

I wonder if cosmoline would work, I've got a bunch of that left over from the chassis. Anyway, somethings getting sprayed in there when I'm done. Thanks again for the idea

Cavity wax is very similar... Maybe a bit more paraffin based as opposed to oil... Tends to be a bit thicker, either will help a bunch long term...
