it appears that my frame has been welded right at the steering box, is this a VERY bad thing, a BAD thing, or it will not effect my driving of my truck!? I have been working on my truck for the longest time and i just got my license and am about to start the truck for the first time. Let me know what i can possibly do if anything.
Thanks,Josh

not a good thing... Depends how i was done, was their material added? A proper patch or just welded? Chevy's crack at that point in the frame often.

frame Welded

it appears a ****ty job was done to it cause i have a welder and am good at it and now how it should look and it looks horrible. It was just welded with no patch and is a bad clumpy weld all around. Are there any options for me? cause this truck was just redone....new motor, trans, lets just say i have 6 grand into it.
Thanks,Josh

If it was my truck I would cut that spot out and weld a patch in.
Thanks

frame welded

That is true, this is not something worth selling my truck though right? like it won't give me any problems down the road?!
Thanks,Josh

Chances are if you sell it the next one you buy will have a cracked frame too. Grind off the old weld. Find the crack that was there. V-notch the crack, weld crack, grind smooth, weld on patch, keep box bolts tight.

welded frame

Cool thanks for the info guys i really appreciate it, i will have to get out the welder and clean the old one up and put a patch on it. thanks again!
Thanks,Josh

I think JC whitney makes a frame patch kit. ORD makes a steering brace. Big tires + wheeling = you need it.

Taper/angle the ends of your patch, make it bigger than the junk yer takin' off.
