if you had your way, wich one would you get?

If I had the extra $, I would go with the infinite voltage control. However, for the average user, like me, the 5 point adjustment would be fine...

btw, I own a SP 135+ and it has been fine for everthing I have done, except welding some 1/2" plate. I had to make a couple passes on it...

dale.. 5 position should be ok for you..

good choice.. check netwelder on wbay.. they are pretty cheap usually

I Have the sp175+, infinite voltage model. I like having the infinite knob, where you can tweak the voltage a little bit to get the weld right.

I'd spend the extra hundy...the infinite voltage is a Godsend IMO. My millermatic 135 has the infinite voltage and it is awesome.

Theoretically, you can do just fine with the tap version by using other techniques to control the weld rather than fine tuning the voltage. BUT, I prefer to have the infinite voltage. My MM175 has infinite and while using it tonight on some heavy channel I tweaked it just a bit hotter than I normally expect on that size material to get it just the way I wanted it. No taps for me...
