Finally have most of the money together to get a welder. I am kind of set on the Millermatic 211 because of the dual voltage setup. But I could buy the 140 or 180 now. I am torn because I dont know if I should just wait it out a couple weeks and get the 211. Im thinking that would make more sense so I only have to buy one good welder to start and I will be able to use it for anything I need to.

I voted for you. 211. Always the biggest you can afford for a welder IMO.

biggest 220 you can save for/afford..... if dual voltage is REALLY valuable to ya you can take that route.... but i kinda think it's a waste ($$ that could be going to amp's) if ya got 220, use it... unless you go mobile alot...

Guess I should have clarified my 220 setup, it is non existent and I dont have a garage. Also we dont have 220 at our shop, yet anyways. But my buddy is going to run 220 in his garage and I would probably be using the welder at his place if I need the 220. So at home I only have 110 to work with and at work as well. But I want the capabilities of the 220.

my thoughts exactly, just needed some reassurance on a large purchase :D im going to swing by the local welding store tomorrow and see if I can put the money I have down on it so I dont spend it on something else.

What prices are you seeing out there?
I've been looking to get the 211 as well. I priced a few welding shops near by and the best price I got is $1,257 out the door. That includes a 11# spool of wire, 55cf cylinder - full 75/25, and tax. 211 by itself is $976 + tax.

if you wanna go 220 anyway, would the 211 still be a good choice for ya as well? Im in the same boat as you, and we already have a top of the line (well, as good as they got back in the 70s) stick welder, so dont really need a top of the line wirefeed, but id like one. Ive got 220 and 110 in the shop so i just have to unplug the compressor and i have it available. Just figure if your going big might as well make it worthwhile? although i like the capability idea of using the 220 or 110 function.

yea it will be the only welder i will have so i might as well get a bigger one and spend the money once.

If your breaker box is close to where you are using your welder and you've got a slot for another breaker its easy to pop in a 50amp breaker an "after work" box right below the breaker box and your 220V outlet. Easy Peasy.

I would look into a Hobart Ironman 230 if you are considering the Miller 211. I went from a Miller 252 to a Hobart handler 210 and there is a big difference between.

Just called my local shop today, they said with a cart it would be $1125 or so. Didnt ask what a bottle would cost. But I am sure I can get a hookup there because I have a friend who used to work there.
