Getting used to a new to me welder. Many moons ago I learned on a stick welder, my experience is limited to that.

I'm using flux core wire without any gas. 110v

Suggestions on wires speed, heat etc would be grand. Using this setup, can I expect any penetration? Also of note, I'm not a professional fab guy.... I push a desk for a living, so be nice. ;)

That’s not terrible for flux core

Maybe a bit of tweaking (for the machine, not you) and more repetition

Slow the wire speed some and maybe some preheat love. A 120v welder is starting to push its limits around 1/4” plate. It can, but makes you work at it more

Anti spatter spray & nozzle dip is what you really need

Ordered some nozzle dip last night :)

I used a 110v flux core a lot. Slow down and let the heat soak in. Makes the puddle bigger and gets more penetration. A flap disc will knock off the boogers and clean up the high spots.

Are you sure the polarity is set right? You reverse it between flux and gas use, as you surely know. Honestly, it looks really good if you do have the polarity set for gas. The weld wants to jump off the material instead of sinking in. For regular flux use, it does look a little splatter heavy, but fluxcore always has splatter.
