Welding Diff\'s

I just welded my a sipder gears like that article on the main page said. I was just wondering how many of you have done it? How long has it lasted? And what Type of Rod did you use?

I did mine like that in late November 2000. My Jimmy is a daily driver, and I have roughly 20,000 miles on it so far. I used a Miller 400 amp MIG machine to weld mine up. I like it just fine except for the obvious like tire wear in the rear...

friendly addendum: just needed to know if anyone has ever done this to an EATON posi unit...or similar?
