welding helmet

I have yet to buy an auto darkening helmet but you can get a cheaper one from Harbor Freight for under $50.00 that people seam to like that don't use it alot. Of course that does nothing for the $100.00 girt certificate you have.

Looks good, the first one I bought didn't darken enough. This one has the adjustment like my new one. I really like it for working where I can't flip the hood up and down.

only advice I have is make sure as well as being solar it also has replaceable batteries. If it's only solar, when the battery is done the helmet is done.

i've done quite a bit of welding, and had a nice helmet that was an auto dim...it was conventient for working in tight areas or welds that didn't last long, but for mild steel projects where you'll spend a lot of time behind the helmet, i prefer a cheap flip down helmet and replace the green lense with the gold lense. so much easier on the eyes and you can see everything really clear. I had a 30 dollar helmet and spent 15 or so bucks on the gold lense and i wouldn't throw that helmet away for nothing.
here's what i did to mine...oh...that's glow in the dark vinyl...just for kicks i used a plotter and cut some out for my helmet.
