Welding help needed please. Help before I destroy my fenders. Pics inside

I only prep sheet metal with a wire wheel on a die grinder, doesn't blow through nearly as easy

With what your doing I'd try to get some steel rod and run it behind to keep from burning through, like 1/8", but you'd have to take the fender off

You've gotten great welding advice already, and like said you're welder is just fine, I use a Miller 211 and a 251 to do sheet metal all the time.....on my 211 I've found that the auto set tends to run hot, I never use it, I always start with the recommended settings on the sticker and fine tune from there.
The fenders on my K30 are cut very similar to yours, I used some 1/8 thick 1/2" or 3/4" wide (cant remember) flat bar to stiffen mine up and it worked great. IIRC Home Depot sells the same stuff and it's cheap, I'll see if I can find a good pic of them, oh and I did the tack weld technique and was using .030 wire in my 211 and really didnt have a burn through issue.

Shouldn't the regulator be set at 20cfh? I had the same problem when I redid the back bed floor of my blazer. Once I turned it down to 20 it worked great.

Love your fenders!!!

I was using a flap disc. Won't do that again. Takes off too much metal. I was watching Stacy David's show the other day( Forget the name) and he was using a red scotch rite wheel of some sort. I like that. I have a wire wheel, I will use that. Thanks.

I have no idea!! I haven't touched it since I bought it. I will turn it down a little.

Thanks guys!

Here are some pics of the fender. I don't think I like how I cut the inner fender though.

On the gas settings, check the label inside the lid, I was thinking more like 25-30 being the suggested setting with 25/75 mix. Also when you set it, make sure you are checking the setting while pulling the trigger so the gas is flowing at the desired rate.

I run mine like 24 (is that cfh? whatever) for outdoors like that if there's a breeze, more like 10-12, IIRC, when indoors and there's no air movement. Higher than that and the gas helps blow out the welds, which is bad.
