The k5 has some major rust sections. Rockers haha what rockers!!

I'm a newbie at welding. I would need to get a welder and the patch pannels. Any advice to a newbie? I think now would be a good time with the gas tank and fuel lines out to replace.

My advice would be it's better to buy a used quality-welder than a new cheap one.
And buy one thats larger than you think you need

I'm not sure about the electricity-grid in USA, here in Sweden we have 230V (1 line)for household use and 380V (3 lines)for industrial use, and in most garages.

Would it be here I would suggest going for a 380V.

Next advice is get a ****load of sheetmetal and practice:D

Buy what you can afford and upgrade when you can afford it. I started with a $40.00 stick welder and now have a MIG welder. Sold the other couple machines as I progressed. Got 110, but want 220 next. Even had 220 installed in my garage for when that time comes.

If you are really serious about learning to repair, go mid ground on the equipment and get an upgrade later. DIY repairs will save you $$ by not paying someone else and will teach you at the same time. If you take it slow you can progress. That's how I started. I'm still a "NOOB" though.
