welding leaf spring perches

is it hard to weld leaf spring perches on axles ive have seen a couple of the 14 bolt semi float six lug axles in junk yards but the spring perches are different widths than my k5 thinking it wouldnt be hard to weld old or new perches on the axle if they sell them and wondering what is the best way to achieve the correct angle or should i say cross level of the spring perches. my blazer has a 4 inche lift
 
No it isn't difficult as long as you have basic welding skills. Just make sure you get good penetration and clean up the area. Wouldn't recommend reusing the perch that you cut off though.

why not? I realize it takes more time to properly cut them off but I have reused perches before. Of course when I do that I only try to cut the weld and not into the perch so it takes alot longer.
 
They sell new perches at diy4x for $50 so I don't know if its really worth your time to try and save the old ones. Depends on how much you value you your time I guess.

Since your k5 is an 1988, I assume from your sig , the 14bsf is used in 3/4ton trucks and should have the same spring perch as your blazer. Did you actually use a tape measure ?

As for welding on new perches, the hardest part is really just making sure your axle is centered under the truck and your pinion angle is correct.
When I did mine, I cut off the old perches, ground down the leftovers. Bought some perches for about $35, measured and measured and measured again. and welded.
