welding under the K5

The front cab mount is rusted where it comes out just before the rocker. I need to weld in a new support brace or patch the current support brace.

What precautions do I need to take when welding under the K5? I have the gas tank out. Anyone welded under the K5?

grind a spot for the ground as close as possible and unhook both battery cables, should be go to go

I use two diferent welding blankets make sure there is nothing around that can catch on fire. both below *AND* above.

I get a fire extinguisher right beside me every time, and a mask so you dont breath in all the fumes that are trapped under the truck.
