Well, a TH350's bellhousing can't take a 415ci!!!

Re: Well, a TH350\'s bellhousing can\'t take a 415ci!!!

Well it slight outside and I finally got a good look at the bell housing. I can see where the bellhousing had fresh breaks and what look like old breaks connecting them. The tranny rotated just enough tocreate a circular break spanning from the center of the access shield up and over to the same spot on the other side. I jacked up the tcase and found a little movement on one side of the crossmember mount sugesting that it could rotate a little. Everything else is was tight. Dropped a cherry picker on the motor and pulled at the mounts but it was very tight and didn't move. I ordered the JW Trans ultra bell which Donovan suggested looking into. After spending some time on the phone with them and discussing some of the prep work (like cutting of the stock bell) and the streangth of the replacement bell, I had them overnight it.

Have any recomendations for poly mounts? I usually go PST...

I started with nothing and I still have most of that left! - <a target="_blank" href=http://www.echobit.com:81/k5/> Pictures</a>

Looks like a pretty sweet solution!

I had another thought about your rear driveshaft. Check to be sure just where the travel ends. Just looking at the clean spot might not tell the whole tale. It's possible that the splines bottom out internally before reaching the full travel that appears possible from the outside. Just something else to check while it's apart...
