Well guys, I'm FINALLY back!

A little about me, my dad used to be huge on this site (username: MoabdadC22) and when I turned 16 I bought my first K5. It was a piece of shit but it ran well! It was an 87 with a 350, power everything, none of which worked, rusted out and dents everywhere. I ended up trading that for a 302 long block for my 92 ford bronco. Anyway, I kept the bronco all through high school, and finally I enlisted in the Navy and shipped out to boot camp on September 11th, 2012. I work on the flight deck and I'm currently stationed onboard the USS George H W Bush (CVN-77) in norfolk, Virginia. I sold the bronco right before my first deployment (February 2014) and bought a 2012 Ram 1500 because my original plan was to just get out of the navy and go back home with a damn near brand new truck. Well life happens, I met a woman, we became engaged yada yada yada and i sold the Ram. Ended up buying a 2000 cherokee, small lift on 32's. Well about 2 weeks ago I received a cash offer that I couldn't refuse. In the mean time I was searching for a K5. I'm not going to mention any names (but they were selling their K5 on here out of Jersey so figure it out yourself) but someone on this site was not only going to charge me double their asking price but they also sold the truck out from under me AFTER I bought my nonrefundable plane ticket. So I ended up finding one locally, it's not exactly what I wanted but it's definitely a starting point. I now own another 87 K5!! Well I have a few questions. Only one of my reverse lights works, possible causes? How do i make my interior lights brighter? And what are the cheapest bright headlights? Because mine are hardly visible....

welcome! to make lights brighter for dash you use the light knob for head lights pulled out and turns one way to dim other to make brighter. For headlights search headlight relay mod if your cheap but like good results.

Reverse lights, try a new bulb, clean the socket, check for power using a voltmeter with someone you trust behind the wheel. After that check wiring.

Interior lights, new bulbs, maybe LED, also taking the dash out and cleaning makes a big difference. The rigs of that era I had experience with didn't have all that bright of dash lights, but re reading if you are talking the interior lights, like dome light then look for replacement lenses maybe clear ones and again new bulbs.

Head lights I just use sylvania from the auto parts stores.

I didn't get too much time to play with it yesterday, the guy brought it to me at around 1930, so I just went out, paid him, got the title and filled it up then I just went back home and went to bed seeing as how I have to be up at 0330 for work haha. I was in VAQ-141 when they were in CAG 8. We did the maiden cruise then changed wings. I am still at NAS Whidbey.

That's awesome! Yeah last cruise we had VAQ 134 the garudas. The final prowler cruise, I love those things. I huffed you guys lol I'm a tractor driver.

I nearly got my ESWS but my training PO lost my RPPO Qual so I missed my window for that as I waited til the end of cruise to get serious about it. I got my EAWS though. I'm sure you heard about the guy that got run over by an F18? He lived in my cube. I was on nights and i just remember the guy that ran him over run into the berthing breaking shit covered in blood. Crazy stuff. Anyway, Yes sir, fuel injected 350. The guy threw in some Hedman headers as well. The wheels will definitely be for sale. I'm currently looking into finding a deal. You got first dibs, I'll PM you for details!

I know they are GM wheels, I was curious if the truck came from the factory with them. Would have to have the RPO sheet in the glovebox yet to know.

Well, I haven't gotten too many chances to work on the truck. Being in the Navy and being in the shipyards turns me into a real weekend wheeler haha. I usually get home around 1600, shower, eat dinner and then relax before heading to bed around 1900. I wake up at 0330 to get ready for work now, it sucks haha. Anyway yesterday I went out and checked it out a little bit, I wanted to take the side steps off, they're welded on...and the welds are rusted to shit! I went to step on the drivers side one and it caved in, looks like I found my first bit of rust! Kicked that thing off, I'll have to get my hands on a Sawzall for the other side. I found a deal on some mickey thompson classics that I will be picking up tomorrow. Working on finding a deal on some tires. After doing some research I found that I can fit a 33' on the stock tire mount in the rear. Anyone able to fit a 35 back there?? Was able to get the stereo working as well. I'll post some updates on Sunday of whether or not I was able to get anything else done!
