Well, I finallly did it!

Ohh wow.. Nice truck bye the way! thats my plan after i get done with school. Get a diesel!!! I had my eye on a 97PS for awhile but it sold b4 i could come up with the cash. you get /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif from me,

I bought my new diesel because it has an ISB cummins, dana 60 front, and dana 80 rear end. I am not afraid of the 47RE auto much at all, if it goes, it does. THe built ATS trannies have a great rep and I will just have to pop one in. Of COURSE I PICKED IT BECAUSE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!! am I stoooopid???? I figured if I am going to spend that kind of money for what I want. Which was a red sport with black leather and your giving me a bad time for choosing that? /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif The drivetrain is basically the same in all of them so why ot buy the color and interior I want. /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif The 3.55's should be perfect, nice and low cruising in OD and I won't tach out loaded in direct drive. Oh and I know enough about these motors, don't worry about me.

[/ QUOTE ]

Uh, go re-read what i wrote. I said nothing about the color, or the interior. I was taken back by the fact that you chose bed length on what looked better. My tow rig is gonna be an 8 footer because i use it. Thats my one complaint about buying my K5, but when i bought it i already had a pickup with a 7' bed and that was enough for me at the time.

As long as you feel you know enough, then im sure its enough.

1. ALmost all of the newish cummins powered dodges come standard with 3.55's.

[/ QUOTE ]

The new ones only have 3.73's or 4.10's unless special ordered. I have a `04.5 4x4, 48Re, SWB, patriot blue, quad cab, with 3.73's. I don't condone it, but I can tow at 80MPH with 9K behind me uphill. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Congrats again.

Good truck /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif Now get you one of the monsterous Ranch Hand type bumpers, and you're straight

John

Im curious, why does your 2500 have a Dana 80? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif I worked on a 01 and it had a 70 (yes it was a cummins).

And Tim, thats the type of high school immaturity I thought I left behind a couple years ago, guess I was wrong.

[/ QUOTE ] You are definantly correct! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I ment the second gens like mine /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif, most of them had 3.55's with the 4.10 option.

Go easy on the trans. Had one that didn't last 30,000 and Dodge wouldn't back it up.

[/ QUOTE ]Really. I have heard over at TDR that it seems you either get a good one thats lasts a long time or one that doesn't. Reminds me of a th700. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif Thats basically why I don't mind the mileage, which really isn't much, because it'll be that much sooner an ATS 47RE will be in and the sooner I don't have to worry about it. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

just put on a huge trany cooler asap and you will get a long life out of it -- and that is a sweet truck /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

If you plan on doing really heavy towing my tranny guru friend suggest two giant coolers in parallel. Parallel you say? It cools well and if one gets clogged you don't loose everything. There is also a larger transmission pan you can get to hold more fluid that he suggests. It's not a goofy finned piece of crap, just a larger pan. I think I can get a P/N from "somewhere" if you would like. These are all things he would install on a customer's truck or refuse to service it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I never liked the look of the dodges after the 50's or whenever they stopped bolting on REAL fenders. But I'm very happy to see you bling blingin in yer gnu truk! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

i am tired of throwing money at it because I already have 20K invested and it still isn't painted nor is the interior fresh.

[/ QUOTE ]

if ya had spent that $20k on 1 ton stuff, doublers and big meats, it'd actually be worth wheelin. no wonder you got frustrated with it.

Very nice tow rig !!! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
I really like mine ( see signature ) and if I had it to do all over agian I would have ordered the exact same truck . No regrets !
You will love the sound of the motor when you put it under a little bit of strain on a long grade - it will make a groaning sound that is music to a diesel lover /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.

Nice truck ! Tom

[/ QUOTE ] Me too! I was really suprised to find a truck EXACTLY like what I would have ordered from the factory. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Well, except for one thing, I would have ordered those cool tow mirrors that fold up and out, but that is it! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I love the way they sound when the turbo spools up and is whistling hard. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

Very cool truck!! Unfortunately, not only can we not afford one right now but my wife loathes diesels. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
