Well I Finally Broke Down And Put A Set Of *Lifted* 52\'s Up Front...
After doing my shackle flip with a new set of 63's, by throwing a front 4x4 spring hanger on the rear (bit taller than say...an ORD), the damn blazer was nosed down, the back looked great, but the front wasn't cutting the mustard. The bodyline was sitting at 54" at the rear, and hardly over 51" up front. Somthing had to be done, the tires nearly touched the (cut) fenders just sitting there.
I originally started with a factory 56" leaf pack from a 1 ton, pulled some leaves out, pulled some middle leaves to leave me with a sagging, unsupported mess that had a pretty nasty-ass shackle angle. Somthing had to be done!
My buddy just decided to pull his rear spring sout of his midly lifted (4" approx) jimmy in favor of a set of 63's. Well low and behold, the previous owner had installed a all spring lift, which we're pretty sure was a rancho lift kit. I've got a digi cam which I'll take out there tomorrow, and snap some pics. I basically did the swap the same as everyones done with 52's, relocating the shackle and using a hole saw to open the frame up. I left the overload in, as its a fair bit shorter than the factory.
Currently I'm sitting @ 54.5" in the rear and 56" at the body line up front. This is without my tranny/t cases, or winch and winch bumper.
What I'd like to know, and I'm sure everyone else might, is the stock height from the center of the axle to the bodyline of an 80's blazer/jimmy.
I'll hit y'all back with photos as I get 'em tomorrow. Everything went together pretty well.
