Right at the steering box /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif and i also found that with minor mods to the 73 and newer frame repair kit it can work on a first gen. Now i've got to work on some sort of brace and i think a new cross member.

You had the factory reinforcement plate rivited on there right?
Where did it crack?...how long were the cracks?
What did you have for a steering dampner?
I am worring about mine as well...I wish someone made a bolt in brace for a 1st gen.(hint hint)
